What is CBC?
Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) is a Rwanda-wide curriculum that is learner-centric and seeks to train the whole student by focusing on four essential areas to develop holistic students: knowledge, skills and values, and attitudes. Instead of focusing on what children know, the CBC framework ensures that children are soaking in their learning and can apply the subject of their lesson to the real world to extend their education into life beyond the classroom. It emphasizes these real-world applications to learning and equips students to be active, engaged, and competent citizens in their communities.
A key feature of CBC is its learner-centric nature. It places children at the centre of their learning and encourages them to actively participate and engage in lessons.
Teachers are now encouraging students to fulfill their potential and develop new skills through active participation in lessons. CBC also promotes values-based education in order to create a strong learning environment.
Our training with teacher multipliers ensures that the teaching and learning process centres the child, and focuses on the CBC framework so that childrens’ learning is prioritized and developed far beyond memorization skills and passive learning. These quality education modules align with CBC and enable teachers to create lively classrooms, dynamic learning experiences, and competent and empowered learners.
