[two_third_last]Gasabo (Ga-sa-bow) is a K-6 rural school located one-hour east of Kigali on top of a beautiful green hill and has stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Children come primarily from subsistence farming families.
13 Teachers, 721 Students in K-6.
Gasabo’s remote location means that children must walk a long way to school and its rural context means many of its families struggle to provide school supplies and uniforms. There are very few external partners and since English has become the main medium of instruction teachers have struggled to deliver suitable lessons in English.
There is a changing culture in the teaching and learning at this school and the activities and lessons are becoming more engaging. Children are no longer passive in their lessons but are active, engaged, and responding well to instruction. Teachers are supporting one another and encouraging one another in better practice.
