[two_third_last]Kayanga Primary School is a K-6 public school located in a remote rural area outside Kigali, Rwanda. It serves a large number of students. The majority of students come from poor farming families and the school has little external support.
Numbers:
24 Teachers, 1592 Students in K-6.
Challenges:
Students must walk long distances to school and often arrive late as a result. Due to the high ratio of students to teachers, there is very little time for teachers to offer individual help and assist each other in improving learning.
Progress:
Collaboration between the school leader and teachers has improved significantly and they are strongly committed to working with Wellspring to bring improvement. Teachers are eager to learn and show measurable progress.
