BASIC ITINERARY
Our Vision Trips give you the opportunity to meaningfully encounter Rwanda, engage with its people, culture, and story, and experience the impact of Wellspring’s work in person. Some of the trip highlights include:
- Visits with Wellspring trainers to schools in both Gasabo and Rubavu districts
- Interaction with our team, and the leaders, teachers, and parents we partner with
- Community activities that immerse you in Rwandan culture
- A time of reflection and remembering at the Kigali Genocide Memorial
- Rest and refreshment by beautiful Lake Kivu
- Journeys through Rwanda’s stunning natural environment
- Making fun and lasting memories with your fellow travelers!
Trip Details
In each of our programs, Wellspring uses a people-focused approach. This means that we don’t directly build classroom blocks or deliver notebooks to schools. Instead, we help communities uncover their own strengths and solutions to combat the obstacles around education. Lasting change comes through equipping people with skills to help themselves, which is why our trainers work directly with all stakeholders to help them understand their unique role in the education ecosystem.
We believe that a quality, Christian values-based education empowers people. Tangible skills gained not only transform the individual, but can be passed on again and again, multiplying impact.
Our Vision Trips provide an opportunity to meaningfully engage with this transformation as we experience the beauty of Rwanda and the impact of Wellspring’s work. We go as listeners, learners, encouragers, and the humble guests of our gracious Rwandan hosts. Recognizing the dignity of each person we encounter, our aim is to honour and bless those we interact with through our presence.
Our hope is that in the process, the lives of all participants will be transformed, and that your time in Rwanda will lead to meaningful involvement with Wellspring, and the school communities we serve, for many years to come.
Budget: The trip cost of $3,000 includes:
- Accommodation (based on double occupancy)
- In-country transportation
- Food while in Rwanda
- Administration fees and related program costs
It does not include:
- Flights to/from Rwanda
- Rwandan visas
- Immunizations
- Medications
- Health insurance
- Optional extension trips
Although unlikely, Wellspring reserves the right to cancel the trip.
Registration for our October Vision Trips closes on August 31st.
You are welcome to make the full payment of $3,000 upfront or in two installments of $1,500 (the first by August 31st and the second by September 15th).
The application deadline for our October trips is August 31st.
The budget for the Wellspring Vision Trip will cover the basic in-country itinerary. This includes accommodations (based on double occupancy), in-country transportation, food, related program costs, and admin fees all booked by Wellspring. The basic itinerary does not include flights to/from Rwanda, Rwandan visas, immunizations, medications, health insurance, or optional extension trips. Participants will be responsible to book and pay for their own flights. Wellspring will provide a preferred flight itinerary with required arrival and departure timeframes.
Wellspring reserves the right to deny a person to participate at any time. This is highly unlikely, but due to the nature of the trip possible reasons for denial could include personal issues, personal health challenges, lack of program finances, or any other reason deemed harmful to the team or to the participant. Wellspring leadership will process the decision with the individual.
Wellspring requires that the designated amount of funds be raised as per the deadline dates as stated above and on the registration form.
Wellspring is responsible for participants only during the actual core program. If the participant arrives earlier or stays later than the core dates they will have to make their own arrangements for food, lodging and travel.
The costs of the Vision Trip and flights are not normally eligible for a charitable donation tax receipt issued by Wellspring.*
*Please ask about how your local church may partner with Wellspring. As a representative of your church, you may be eligible for an official tax receipt from the church.
