The Power of Forgiveness, Reconciliation, and Restoration
Sunday, February 10 – Kigali, Rwanda
Today began, as it does every morning, with a time of meditation and reflection. Our focus was centered on the deeper meaning of forgiveness, reconciliation, and restoration. This meaningful time was the perfect preparation for our visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre following a very lively service at Christian Life Assembly – just across the parking lot from our Wellspring Foundation offices and Wellspring Academy.
As always, especially for those on our team who visited for the first time, the Memorial Centre was a gripping and heartbreaking reminder of what transpired in three short months when more than a million Rwandans were slaughtered in 1994. The good news is that Rwanda, now a model country in Africa, has and continues to live out what it means to forgive, reconcile, and restore all that was so deeply broken just 25 years ago.
Our day ended with rich fellowship, hospitality, and delicious food in the home of Jodi and Jeff Komant and their two delightful boys (Jeff is one of Wellspring’s co-founders). Grateful!
