Sarah Harrington, Communications & Campaigns CoordinatorA few months ago, I was standing in a dusty schoolyard in the rural hills of the Rubavu District, cheering students on as they declared their dreams for their classmates, families, community, and the world to hear. Every child had a vision for their future, a unique one that was tailored to their individual passions, interests, and personality. With the help of Fill in the Blank Studios, we recorded these dreams for a film about the importance of education. This month, we premiered this film along with two others at our annual Gala in Vancouver, British Columbia.

We raised over $418,000 for quality education in Rwanda that night. It was an evening full of many memorable moments. Co-founder Richard Taylor attended the event, and we were blessed to send him off into his new role at Trinity Western University with celebration and prayer. Another standout moment was watching the film “Girls: Education Changes Everything” and seeing the kids declare their dreams again with the knowledge that they have a very real chance to reach them thanks to the quality education they will now receive because of generous partners like you!

Make sure you take a peek at the films below and enjoy the rest of this edition of The Source!

Girls: Education Changes Everything

Around the world, girls are consistently overlooked in favour of boys—especially when it comes to their education. But girls have the potential to be world changers and community shapers too, and it’s time to equip them with the education to reach their dreams. Visit our website to learn more about how education changes everything.

Today, Wellspring co-founder Richard Taylor and his family will step on a plane and begin their journey from Kigali, Rwanda, to Vancouver, Canada. It’s a trip Richard has taken many times over many years … but this time is different. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the story of the Taylor family, and in the story of Wellspring, as Richard officially ends his time with the organization he began fourteen years ago.

Together we can be a catalyst for transforming education in Africa

Wellspring is a Christian organization working to empower the next generation of Rwandans through quality education. We believe we are uniquely placed to be a catalyst for transforming education and fostering vibrant communities that address poverty in all its forms. Why do we do this? Because we believe that every individual, no matter their circumstances, should be shown the same dignity and worth that Jesus showed us.
