TRIP DETAILS
In all of our programs, Wellspring takes a people-focused approach. This means that we don’t directly build classroom blocks or deliver notebooks to schools. Instead, we come alongside communities, helping them uncover their own strengths and solutions to combat obstacles to children’s education. Lasting change comes through equipping people with skills to help themselves, which is why our trainers work directly with all stakeholders to help them understand their unique role in the education ecosystem.
We believe that a quality, Christian values-based education empowers people. The tangible skills gained not only transform the individual, but can be passed on again and again, multiplying the impact.
This makes our Vision Trips slightly different from some similar opportunities. It is not a mission trip, and you won’t be serving or working while you’re there.* It is more of an educational adventure and vacation.
Taking a Vision Trip provides you with an opportunity to explore the beauty and culture of Rwanda, while also encountering the impact of Wellspring’s work. We go as listeners, learners, encouragers, and the humble guests of our gracious Rwandan hosts. Recognizing the dignity of each person, our aim is to honour and bless those with whom we interact through our presence and encouragement, even if not through the works of our hands.
Our hope is that in the process, the lives of both the Vision Trip guests and the Rwandan children, women, and men with whom you engage will be transformed. We wish to inspire you with impact, encourage you with hope, and invite you into meaningful involvement with Wellspring, and the school communities we serve, for many years to come.
*If the desire to serve is key to your experience, please reach out to us at events@wellspring.ngo. While we might not have you building schools, we may be able to find a small way to use your unique giftings to serve our team.

Your Canadian logistical coordinator for both trips is Sarah Holden-Pizieux, Operations Manager. She can be reached at sarahhp@wellspring.ngo
The May trip will be led by TBD.
The October trip will be led by TBD.
In Rwanda, you’ll meet many of Wellspring’s amazing team. You can say a special thanks to Eric Kayiranga for his efforts in managing logistics from the Rwandan side!
Wellspring’s work is driven by our faith and our belief that every child is created in the image of God. Our staff adhere to the Nicene Creed, and faith and prayer are at the centre of everything we do. Where Vision Trips coincide with a Sunday, you are invited to visit a local Rwandan English-speaking Church. You are also invited to join our team in prayer as the occasion arises.
However, while we aim to live out our faith and to represent the hands and feet of Jesus to the world, we do not require trip participants to be Christian. We make room for all who feel called to take this journey of transformation with us. You may opt out of the faith-based aspects. We simply ask that you be respectful of our beliefs and practices.
A standard Wellspring Vision Trip is designed for adults and not recommended for those under the age of 16 (both for the subject matter and the experiences).
However, our love of children drives our mission, and we would never want little ones to hinder your ability to visit Rwanda with us!
If you desire a family-focused trip, please speak to Sarah Holden-Pizieux at sarahhp@wellspring.ngo to begin a conversation around how we might accommodate you.
The budget for your Vision Trip will cover the basic in-country itinerary. This includes accommodations, in-country transportation, food, related program costs, and administration fees, all booked by Wellspring. The basic itinerary does not include flights to/from Rwanda, Rwandan visas (where required), immunizations, medications, health insurance, or optional extension trips. Participants will be responsible to book and pay for their own flights. Wellspring will provide a preferred flight itinerary with required arrival and departure timeframes.
For the protection of the organization, and the safety of trip participants, Wellspring reserves the right to deny a Vision Trip applicant at any time. While unlikely, possible reasons for denial could include personal issues, health challenges, lack of program finances, or any other reason deemed potentially harmful to the team or participant.
Given the nature of the trip, it is recommended that participants are comfortable with long periods of confined sitting, and are physically able to walk a kilometre unassisted over rough terrain. Wellspring will work with applicants to find appropriate accommodations that cater for any physical restrictions where possible. If sufficient accommodation cannot be met, Wellspring will process that decision with the individual.
Wellspring requires that the designated amount of funds be raised as per the deadline dates, as stated above and on the registration form.
Wellspring holds responsibility for participants only during the dates of the Vision Trip. If the participant arrives earlier or stays later than the core dates they will have to make their own arrangements for food, lodging, and travel.
The costs of the Vision Trip and flights are not normally eligible for a charitable donation tax receipt issued by Wellspring.*
*Please ask about how your local church may partner with Wellspring. As a representative of your church, you may be eligible for an official tax receipt from the church.
