THE WELLSPRING TEAM IS ON THE MOVE!

“As Wellspring, we did not stop. We continued to see how we can support our teachers, school leaders, and even parent communities, so we will not stop. Our team was still on the move to support.”

2020 has presented unique and unprecedented challenges that are affecting millions the world over, particularly the most vulnerable. In Rwanda, with schools having been closed since March and with the reopening date still unknown, children are facing very real barriers to their education and need support from all sides to ensure that their learning journey continues, during this pandemic and for years to come.

Our Rwandan team has stepped up in innovative and impactful ways to ensure that every child's learning journey continues during and beyond COVID-19. Your partnership and prayers have made this possible.

In this latest update, we are delighted to introduce you to Wellspring’s Senior Program Manager, Theogene Kayiranga, who has been part of our team for 11 years. Theo has a contagious passion for quality education, and a desire to see children placed at the centre of their learning, treated with dignity, and given hope for their futures.

Our Director of Public Engagement, Louise Reilly, took the opportunity to sit down with Theo (over Zoom of course, it’s 2020!) to hear more about the ways in which our team has stepped up to support and equip teachers, leaders, and parents during this COVID-19 season. Theo shared about the creation of workbooks for each group, the leadership training that is helping ensure a focus on students’ learning, and the various ways in which we can pray for the people of Rwanda in these challenging times.

As you listen*, we hope that you will be encouraged by the difference you are making, even as the schools you support are closed. Our pursuit of quality education for every Rwandan child never wavers, and our team remains engaged and active in seeing these school communities thrive—now and for generations to come.

Thank you so much for being part of this journey with us.
