Martine: Wellspring Academy Principal

Although Martine had a decorated resume, it was her desire to serve that made her the perfect candidate to be the principal at The Wellspring Academy. Martine has degrees in sciences, languages, and business and she has worked in each of those fields. She taught at the primary and post-secondary level. She worked in the National Bank of Rwanda and was a project manager for various government initiatives. In 2012 Martine was ready for a career change and was hired at the academy’s principal. She felt unqualified to lead 570 students and almost 50 teachers. She remembers saying to a colleague, “’I’m good with papers not people!” I immediately felt convicted when I realized that Jesus didn’t die for papers.” Since that realization, Martine has aimed to sew into the lives of each person on campus. She wants an already strong Christian school to become a superb school.

“I thank God to be entrusted to this extent. I have a serious mission to work with these precious people, so the plan God has for their lives can be fulfilled…The work we’re doing is a sustainable work for this life and also for the life to come. When you think about eternity, you become motivated to invest in the lives’ of people.”
